Lucy A. Snyder

Lucy A. Snyder

Lucy A. Snyder is the featured guest at the Chattel House Books/Book Source Authors' Lounge, which is a major attraction of the FLOW AnimeKon Expo 2015.

The American author and four-time winner of the celebrated Bram Stoker Award will be in Barbados as part of the sixth year of AnimeKon Expo.

Snyder was nominated for the Bram Stoker Award for Best First Novel in 2009 for “Spellbent”. She netted her first Bram Stoker win in the category of Superior Achievement in Poetry, in 2010 for her collection “Chimeric Machines”. Snyder's second Bram Stoker, this time in the category of Short Fiction was awarded in 2012 for “Magdala Amygdala”. The prolific writer doubled-down on her Bram Stoker Award haul in 2014, collecting in two separate categories; Superior Achievement in a Fiction Collection for “Soft Apocalypses”, as well as in Superior Achievement in Non-Fiction for “Shooting Yourself in the Head For Fun and Profit: A Writer’s Survival Guide”.

Snyder is also an alum of the Clarion Workshop, a distinction shared with a previous Book Source Authors' Lounge featured guest, author Tobias S. Buckell.

FLOW AnimeKon Expo, which has grown into a hugely popular event for pop culture enthusiasts from Barbados and the wider region adds Snyder to the list of celebrity guests for this year.

Other pop culture icons slated to attend include American cosplay icon Yaya Han; Germany-based cosplay author Svetlana Quindt (Kamui Cosplay); and British actor, director, and martial artist Christian Howard.  This marks the second return for both Yaya Han and Christian Howard to the ever-growing event.

The Bram Stoker Awards, presented annually since 1987, is overseen by the Horror Writers Association; and are named in honour of the Irish horror writer best known for the novel “Dracula”. Past winners include notable authors such as Stephen King, Clive Barker, Neil Gaiman, Joe Hill, George R. R. Martin, J. K. Rowling, and Alan Moore.
