Dorothy Vaughan was born in Barbados in the rural parish of St James, hence her development for a liking of the beauty of nature. She attended the Modern High School where her talent for writing was discovered at the early age of thirteen.
On leaving school she became a teacher. She attended the Erdiston Teachers'Training College and later the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus where she studied English and History. She taught at the St. Silas Senior as well as the St. James Secondary School where she was involved in the teaching of English and Drama.
Dorothy has also been involved in the work of the church and has produced many poems, short plays and some songs for both school and church.
In 2013 she published her first book, an e-book called The Convert and other short stories. This was followed up in 2015 by the paper back version and the publication of another book Precious Thoughts - An Anthology of Poems.
Now retired, Dorothy spends time writing to inspire persons, especially the youth, to aim for a purposeful life and maintaining a wholesome society.
